This was an expensive lesson… Sorta kinda stable delta trike, with an overpowered BBS02 mid drive and days of trying to make a drum brake hub work as a jackshaft. This was his one and only test ride before the project was abandoned for a 2 wheeler (see blue Townie).
Hi, I have a similar trike that I am thinking about converting from a hub motor to a mid drive. Why did you abandon the project? Was there an issue with the power? Thanks for any advice before I embark upon this conversion.

The “750w” BBS02 was more power than I felt it needed, and only one rear wheel is driven (which I didn’t like). A mid drive won’t work with the coaster brake that was on the trike, so I you have to figure out how to brake the rear wheels. My attempt was to use a lever actuated drum brake hub as a jack shaft to slow the rear axle (and hence the ONE wheel attached to it). I just couldn’t get it all lined up right without derailing.
