Ebike porn. Astro Flight motor from the high power R/C world mated to an early reduction drive of Matt Shumaker’s. Haven’t fired it up yet, but it should be a scene!
For a fun historical read try electricbike.com’s “The Strange Saga of Tidalforce”. I was told by someone involved with the project that it’s “mostly” true. I can tell you this much: at 44V, this nearly 20lb motor will push you up to 28mph smoothly, silently and remain at near ambient temperature all day long. That front black hub is the stock battery that anyone owning one of these should quickly replace in favor of any common 36v-44v pack.
A daily commuter. My second ride with a rectangle pack cradled in a V frame. Not as good a solution as a triangle pack in a triangle frame, but it at least gets the weight centered.
A semi-early adopter of the 48 volt, 25 amp BBS-02, this bike handled pretty well at 25mph.
20ah really lets you get lost a bit and worry later about what path you’ll take home… At 38v and peaking around 1,200w this bike was good for extended 20mph afternoon excursions.
